I was raised in Alabama but now live in Columbus, Mississippi. My passion for exploring and experiencing new cultures around the world began when I studied abroad in Belize but was amplified after spending a few months in Southeast Asia. My favorite trips are a perfect mix of adventure and culture with a focus on local cuisine. Nothing brings me more joy than planning the perfect European itinerary. I believe the best gifts are experiences, but who says you can’t stop in a local shop at your destination? After graduating from pharmacy school, my husband and I took our parents on “thank you” trips. We explored Puerto Rico with my parents and indulged in Portland’s best food before enjoying Acadia, National Park with my in-laws. There is nothing better than the gift of travel- especially when you can share these moments with the people you love most!
Most memorable travel experience to date? My husband, Jonathan, and I fully immersed ourselves in the culture of Southeast Asia when we spent 2 months traveling throughout Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia. A few highlights of this trip included cruising through Halong Bay, hiking in Sapa, island hopping in Thailand, and having my wedding dress made by a talented seamstress in Vietnam.
Where do you dream of traveling next? I just returned from Italy, and it was absolutely magical. Italy tops the list of most beautiful countries for good reason, not to mention the food and wine scene! I explored Prosecco country and the Dolomites and truly found some gems. I’m already dreaming of my next Italian (or French) adventure exploring off-the-beaten-path towns and villages.
Travel tip? Always plan time for leisure. Never pack so many activities into a day that you lose the magic that happens in those in-between moments.
