meet katherine

My passion for travel likely began in my early years as an army brat moving around bases in Europe and the US. I’ve learned how traveling enhances your ability to understand and appreciate the various cultures of the world.

I’m a lover of memories - both looking back on old memories and creating new ones. My parents put a film camera in my hands in grade school, and I quickly fell in love with capturing our travel experiences - whether they were momentous occasions or little moments.

Creating and capturing memorable experiences for travel gems around the world is the foundation of what I do. I love planning trips for just about any occasion, but I especially love couples and friends trips and helping take the stress away from people who are newer to traveling abroad and want someone to guide them through their bucket list trip.

Favorite hotels? I recently returned from Finland and stayed at Levin Iglut's famous glass igloos. Laying in bed watching the Northern Lights dance across the sky above me is a bucket list memory I’ll never forget! The food at their restaurant was also delicious, and the family-owned nature of the property felt so special.

At La Mamounia in Marrakech, Morocco - my face looked like the heart eye emoji while experiencing the spectacularly enchanting property that frequents the world’s best hotel lists. It is everything wonderful, and I wish I could have bottled up the scent of the rose bushes, and the orange and lemon trees in the 17-acre garden.

Villa Cora in Florence, Italy, was one of the most regal places I’ve ever stayed. Built in the 1860s, and formerly owned by Empress Eugenie, everything about this place is opulent luxury. Sometimes, luxury can translate to pretentious, so what made this place even more lovely was how genuinely warm and welcoming the staff is. Their spa was divine, too.

Other quick mentions because I could go on forever: Sage Lodge in Paradise Valley, Montana - the views of the golden fields contrasted against the blue mountains are so relaxing.  The Silica Hotel in Iceland features its own private blue lagoon and made me feel like I was staying on Mars with the lava fields out the window.

What are some of your most memorable travel experiences to date?

  • Driving the around the entire country of Iceland on the 800+ mile “Ring Road”. The landscape changed constantly from lava fields to black beaches to glacier lagoons. The waterfalls, hiking, and experiences in Iceland are some of my favorite memories.

  • Eating. All. The. Food. In. Japan!

  • Hiking with my family in Glacier, Montana

  • Snowmobiling and dog-sledding through the stunning winter landscape of Finland

  • Helicopter Tour over Maui - the views are incredible!!

  • Glamping in the Sahara Desert

  • Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at the only Irish Pub in Heidelberg, Germany

  • Eating Fish Tacos and watching the incredible sunsets in Nosara, Costa Rica

  • Riding Horses through Yellowstone National Park

  • Going to Italy in early December, when they are very few tourists, and having Michelangelo’s David pretty much all to myself.

Where do you dream of traveling next?

I’ve traveled to 49 of the 50 states, Alaska is my last state to visit, and I want to do it big! (Airports and state drive-throughs don’t count; you must actually explore the state to check it off ;)  I’ve explored 5/ 7 continents, and so I’d love to go on an expedition to Antarctica!

Favorite travel quote?

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste it, to experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experiences.”
